Since last night, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers have been trying to put out the fire. However, strong winds and dry vegetation have made it hard for them to contain the inferno.

According to residents living near Tsavo East National Park, the fire had not been contained as of this morning.

The Kenya Wildlife Service is yet to establish the cause of the raging inferno and is expected to soon give a statement on the extent of the fire.
