The Vancouver Fashion Week turned the spotlight toward endangered elephants, when Elephantasia hit the runway as part of the event’s second-to-last night.

Produced by A-Dot Productions in partnership with local elephant advocacy group Elephanatics, the collection consisted of a dozen pachyderm-inspired pieces by 12 different international designers and was meant to bring attention to the thousands of African elephants that are slaughtered each year for their ivory.

Dr. Jake Wall, chief scientific research advisor for Elephanatics, was present at the event where he gave a short speech about the current poaching crisis in Africa.
